E3 2010 - Microsoft Kinect Live Demo

Microsoft showcased its Video KINECT technology [Formerly Project Natal] in E3 2010, presented by Laura, one of the social engineers who is working on the Xbox live. This was a short 3 minute live video demo that
I watched on E3 Expo's official webpage. The presenter, apart from looking pretty hot, kinda seemed nervous, but that didnt seem to hinder the presentation much as she managed all the way with a big smile on her face! ;) Now moving onto the details, Microsoft Kinect, is a cool yet weird looking Xbox peripheral (addon accessory) that will

1. Enable you to video+voice chat with your network of peers on xbox live or the internet.
2. Tracks you - the camera follows your movements where ever you are within the field of view.
3. Take you to next level of family/peer collaboration??
4. Lets you experience total immersive gaming.

The actual video kinect Device

The Video shows Laura waving her hand over the 3d space in-front of the kinect device and navigating through the Kinect's proprietary interface. The tracking is shown, with a few voice commands to which the system responds accurately enough. The quoted date for launch is dec 2010 provided Microsoft doesnt delay stuff as ever. There are few 3d interactive game titles from major players queuing up alongside the release for the Kinect. Microsoft supposedly quoted that this is more than their answer to the Nintendo Wii mote. I'm guessing this kinect device has got a quite lot of potential and could go a long way hand in hand with our fully loaded living room and media center PCs to boot!
