Decent Laptops for less than $35

India finally surpasses the "Affordable" range of laptops and tablet PCs, they come with 2GB RAM and video capabilities, running a Android OS. The best part, its $35 (INR 1500) and less!

kapil Sibal, Human resource development minister, finally unveils his dream project, a functional touch screen  laptop that costs $35 and less! The project, jointly ventured by IIT [Indian Institute of Technology] and IIS [Indian Institute of Science] finally confirmed the launch of its portable tablet PCs that supposedly run are powered by a proprietary motherboard+processor combo and 2GB of RAM.

The Laptop looks kinda similar to the Apple I-pad, comes in three flavors 5/7/9'' touch screens, has 3G capabilities, Wi-fi, ethernet and USB ports! It features a intuitive web browser, text processors and video conferencing facilities, however the a detailed spec is yet to be revealed. A perfect company for students and casual users alike, this laptop seems promising.

The Operating system is usually a critical cost deciding factor, considering which, they have settled to open source platform, the Android OS. The laptop is to go into commercial production and Mr.Sibal envisions to sell a million products by 2011, major focus being students and higher education scholars.

The best and worthy feature I like in this device is its PDF reader and video capabilities. Its definitely worth the money, as a standalone PDF reader like Amazon Kindle costs nearly 8 times the money and the I-pad, well less said the better!

Now, only if it would run Crysis ;)
