Indian Rupee takes its final symbol from an IIT graduate's design

Few weeks ago, I blogged that there was this open invite to submit designs for a new symbol to be used to denote the Indian currency. Read that post first before continuing. There was even a price announcement of 2.5Lakh to whosoever's design
gets selected. And finally, on July 15th, the cabinet has settled on this symbol to represent the Indian rupee internationally replacing the previously used terms like rs. or the INR.

The design supposedly belongs to an IIT post graduate, Mr.Uday Kumar.., who believes this symbol portrays India's face into Global outreach. Newer currency that will go on printing from today will have this symbol on them, joining the ranks liks the USD $, Euros and the Yen.

Do you like the new symbol for the Indian currency?
YES or NO? Leave comments!
